“Tonight could be the greatest night of your life!  –Bono

That’s what we heard last Saturday night as the perfect evening light faded, as we sat high in Soldier Field with the slightest lake breeze gently cooling us.  Bono was right…it was certainly one of the greatest nights of my life!

The message Terre shares in her September 17th blog entry is a message we all desperately need…one of hope, one that takes our attention away from all the negatives which are easy to spot and seem to crash in over us from one day to the next.  And that was the message people wanted to hear last Saturday night…it was what Bono and the band knew they were called to inspire us with.

What made it such a wonderful night?  Being in our wonderful city…dreaming of potential Olympics…seeing the amazing skyline…enjoying an exceptional concert beside a man I’ve loved for twenty four years…singing, moving, dancing, hollering, cheering with my college roommate…friendships spanning decades…the sense of being in an outdoor cathedral…being challenged and inspired to think about the world and those in need much more than we are in need here in the U.S.…remembering a very special moment worshiping with Bishop Tutu and hearing his challenge for us to change the world…really believing we can make the world a better place…singing with tens of thousands of people in one voice…

There’s nothing to improve your outlook, quite like a wonderful rock concert with dear friends, where you go away feeling like you really can change the world and make it a better place!  How have you changed the world today?  Or…are you stuck in a moment, that you can’t get out of?  It’s ok.  It’s just a moment.  It too will pass.  And there will be another chance to change the world…and start again…

Stuck In A Moment by U2

I’m not afraid of anything in this world

There’s nothing you can throw at me that I haven’t already heard

I’m just trying to find a decent melody

A song that I can sing in my own company

I never thought you were a fool

But darling, look at you

You gotta stand up straight, carry your own weight

These tears are going nowhere, baby

You’ve got to get yourself together

You’ve got stuck in a moment and now you can’t get out of it

Don’t say that later will be better now you’re stuck in a moment

And you can’t get out of it

I will not forsake, the colors that you bring

But the nights you filled with fireworks

They left you with nothing

I am still enchanted by the light you brought to me

I listen through your ears, and through your eyes I can see

And you are such a fool

To worry like you do

I know it’s tough, and you can never get enough

Of what you don’t really need now … my oh my

You’ve got to get yourself together

You’ve got stuck in a moment and you can’t get out of it

Oh love look at you now

You’ve got yourself stuck in a moment and you can’t get out of it

I was unconscious, half asleep

The water is warm till you discover how deep

I wasn’t jumping for me it was a fall

It’s a long way down to nothing at all

You’ve got to get yourself together

You’ve got stuck in a moment and you can’t get out of it

Don’t say that later will be better now

You’re stuck in a moment and you can’t get out of it

And if the night runs over

And if the day won’t last

And if our way should falter

Along the stony pass

And if the night runs over

And if the day won’t last

And if your way should falter

Along the stony pass

It’s just a moment

This time will pass

I didn’t know you were a fan of Bono & U2. Tom Selinger (our Dir of Design & my brother-in-law)was at that concert too. Small world! Terre
